Jim Heil Memorial Software Process Improvement (SPI) Award |
This award is established in memory of Jim Heil, former Chairman of the North Jersey Software Process Improvement Network (NJ SPIN) and Chairman of the Annual Software Process Improvement Symposium. Jim had a great impact on many lives, both in his professional and personal life, in the many varied roles he took. Mr. Heil's career as a software engineer spanned more than 50 years, most recently working for ILEX Communications in Shrewsbury. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during peacetime, was a member of the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church and its choir, was an Eagle Scout, and an avid stamp collector. Professionally, Jim was a great advocate for Quality and Software Process Improvement. However, his reach extended well beyond his professional life. Jim was a people person, always welcoming and making new and standing members feel at home. He encouraged networking and took a special interest especially in those who were in job transition situations, often taking upon himself to help, whether by providing feedback on a resume or connecting people to potential hiring managers. In this spirit of professional and personal honor, the NJ SPIN is continuing to remember and honor Jim by reaching out to help enlighten and impact others for their betterment through the Jim Heil Memorial Software Process Improvement (SPI) Award. Jim Heil Memorial SPI Award Sponsor Administrator 22 Dogwood Road Boonton, NJ 07005-2412 We are thankful for the friend we had in Jim Heil and have joy in knowing that his memory and impact continues to make a positive difference in people's lives.
